Better Gas Mileage

Get Better Gas Mileage

Here's an excellent item to help increase gas mileage for any vehicle

TIPS FOR INCREASING YOUR FUEL ECONOMY

  • Coast to a stop at stop lights
    - Don't go so fast you have to use a lot of brakes to stop in traffic
  • Take the car out of gear going down hills with a manual tranny
    - improve gas mileage by keeping the rpm's lower.
  • Inflate your tires to the proper pressure.
    - If they aren't inflated fully, fuel economy goes down.
  • Buy good gas at the pump.
    - Just because it is the same octane doesn't mean it is the same. You get what you pay for.
It doesn't look like gas prices are going to be coming down any time soon. People aren't just going to stop driving. Fortunately, we here at US Muscle Mods know that every mile counts so we have done the leg work for you to find out what are some of the best ways to increase your gas mileage, whether you drive a sports car or a little economy car or anything inbetween. Now let's be honest there is only one way that I have found to get miles absolutely free and that involved shutting down the vehicle and a very large hill. Unfortunately, in life you're not always sitting at the top of a very large hill with the option of shutting down your vehicle. Below are some of the top ways to increase your gas mileage.

Performance Chips (Computer Chips): Many of today's engines are capable of significantly more power than they have when they are sold at the dealership. A computer chip essentially makes adjustments to the engines ECU which result in power increases. When you unleash this power, increased gas mileage is often a secondary result.

Performance Filters and Intake Kits: One of the simplest products you can install to get better gas mileage is a performance air filter or intake system. Everything your engines does requires energy. Even pulling air in requires energy. Anything you can do to make that easier for your engine will result in better fuel economy. High flow air filters are washable and re-useable, they help increase power and throttle response as well as helping you gain a few more miles from your fuel tank.

Performance Exhaust Systems: Just like your engines intake, an inefficiently designed factory exhaust system can rob your engine of power and economy the same way. For example, try blowing through a tube the size of a Bic pen filler. Then try blowing the same amount of air through a soda straw. Which one required more energy? If your engine is always "forcing" the exhaust gases out, then it is wasting fuel to get the job done. By installing a larger diameter system with smooth mandrel bent radiuses, you will enjoy better gas mileage and additional power from your engine.

Fuel Additives: Fuel additives are highly recommended around here. Octane boosters help out with gas mileage and power.
